These instructions will show you how to allow VCU's Web sites with the most common pop-up blockers: those built into Internet Explorer and Firefox or those on the Google or Yahoo toolbars. If you are using another pop-up blocker, for instance, one provided by your ISP (internet service provider: AOL, Earthlink, Comcast, etc), you will need to check with their instructions for allowing specific sites with the pop-up blocker. Internet Explorer

Firefox

From the Tools menu, choose Pop-up Blocker > Pop-up Blocker Settings.

In the box labeled Address of Web site to allow, type in *.vcu.edu. Click on Add. VCU will show up in the Allowed sites box. Click on Close to finish.

On the Content tab, next to the item marked Block Pop-up Windows, clock on Allowed Sites. FF popup diagram 2
   
In the Address of web site box, type in *.vcu.edu. Click on Allow. The site will show up in the list. Click on Close to finish. FF popup diagram 3

Option 1: Temporarily turn off the Popup blocker by clicking on the popup blocker icon till it says "Popups Okay" Google popup diagram

Option 1: First visit the site so the popup is blocked. Then add the source of the pop-up window to your Allowed List by doing the following:

Don't forget to turn it back on when you're through. Just click on the icon till it says "x blocked."
  • Click the Pop-Up Blocker menu
  • Select "Always Allow Pop-Ups From...".
  • Select the site from the "Sources of Recently Blocked Pop-Ups" list
  • Click "Allow"

This will allow all pop-ups from this web site to appear without further action.

       
Option 2: Press and hold the CTRL key while clicking a link. This will override Pop-Up Blocker just for that one click and allow any pop-up windows resulting from the click to appear. You will have to hold down the CTRL key before clicking the link every time you click on a link that is currently being blocked. Option 2: Press and hold the CTRL key while clicking a link.
