How to login to myVCU to register for classes

First things first: Do you know what your eID is? If you have a VCU e-mail account, it's probably the part of your e-mail address before the @vcu.edu, a combination of your last name and first/middle initials. If you don't know your eID, you can find out here.

Next, Do you have a strong password? In order to protect your privacy, the new Student eServices system requires a strong password. For information on what is required to make your password strong, check the information here. And while you're changing to a strong password, you should also add a password challenge response, which will allow you to reset your password yourself instead of having to call the Help Desk to get them to reset it for you.

Are you a newly admitted student?
In order to register for classes, all newly admitted students must officially respond to VCU’s offer of admission.

You should complete the response form found in the accepted student handbook or online at www.ugrad.vcu.edu/pdfs/responseform.pdf.

New freshmen and transfer students register for classes at New Student Orientation (NSO). For more information about NSO, please see New Student Programs.

You should submit your response card to the Graduate School, or email responsegrad@vcu.edu with your program and term of entry information.

Okay, now you can login to the myVCU portal! There are two ways to get to the myVCU portal. If you click on a link that goes straight to the portal, you'll get a page that looks like this:

myVCU Login

You can also get to the myVCU portal from the VCU Home Page:

myVCU-home page

Once you get to one of these pages, simply enter your eID and password and click on Login.

Once you've logged in, you'll get a page with a series of tabs. You want the eServices tab.

myVCU Tabs

When you click on that tab, you'll get to the eServices login page. If you want to register for fall classes, click on the eServices button to get into the eServices site. You will not need to login again--it will take you directly to the site.

The Personal Information page lets you verify your address and phone number so you get any mail that VCU sends you. To register for classes, click on the Student and Financial Aid tab.

Registration menu

Once you get to this point, it works pretty much like the old eServices system. To register for classes, you can click on Registration and you're presented with a number of options. As in the old system, to register for classes you click on Add or Drop Classes. The new thing you might find helpful is Look Up Classes. If you know you need a specific class (say English 205), you can look up that class and get a listing of all the options available.

If you need more help, note that there are downloadable Registration Instructions.

When you're done, don't forget to protect your privacy by logging out by clicking on Exit. If you don't do anything in the system for 10 minutes, it will log you out automatically and you'll have to log back in. Log Out of eServices
